6-Part Beginner Garment Series - Saturday Zoom Classes* - Begins February 27th -Four Payments of $175
Have you ever dreamt of making your own wardrobe but have no idea how to get started? Apparel sewing can be intimidating so, where do you begin? Right here, with Mary Make & Do's 6-Part Garment Series!
Meeting once a month, Mary will teach you how to make 6 garments, starting with simple/beginner and progressing toward more intermediate projects, and she’ll make it as easy and fun as possible! This series features several popular patterns from independent designers, as well as an introduction to drafting your own patterns. And fabric is included!
*This garment series will take place virtually on Zoom. For local participants, we might switch to in-person classes in the spring, but classes will still be on Zoom for those who are out of town, or who choose to continue to work from home.
Class schedule and projects are as follows:
Saturday, February 27, 12-3 p.m. - Elastic Waist Skirt
Saturday, March 27, 12-6 p.m. -Ruby Dress by Made by Rae
Saturday, April 24 , 12-6 p.m. -- Willow Dress by Grainline Studio
Saturday, May 15, 12-6 p.m. - Scout Tee by Grainline Studio
Saturday, June 12, 12-6 p.m. - Fen Dress by Fancy Tiger Crafts
Saturday, tbd 12-6 p.m. - Self-drafted A-Line Skirt (You'll learn to draft a pattern!)
The cost is $700 and will be paid in 4 monthly installments of $175. The first installment is due when you sign up for the class. An invoice for the remaining 3 payments will be sent to the email address that is used when signing up. The fee includes instruction, patterns, fabric, and red dot tracing fabric for each pattern. You will need to have a sewing machine, thread and basic sewing supplies such as scissors, pins, iron and ironing surface, and marking tools. It is also a good idea to have some lightweight interfacing on hand, and consider getting yourself a sewing ham.
If you have a scheduling conflict for one of the classes, don't worry, Mary will record all the classes on Zoom, and is available to assist you with questions outside of class. Consider her your sewing fairy godmother!
If you have fitting concerns, private lessons may be purchased separately to learn to adjust and grade patterns. These valuable skills will allow you to work with most any pattern you like!
This series is designed for beginner's. The main requirement is that you are familiar with how to use a sewing machine. We can help you with that! If you are new to sewing we recommend you take one of our Absolute Beginning Class, or schedule a private lesson with Mary, before this series begins.
Ages: teens and adults.
Class size is limited. If you have any questions please contact Mary Perisho at firstname.lastname@example.org.
