Improv Quilting Workshop 6-8:45pm Tuesday October 8th
You and your sewing machine can create an original patchwork with no pattern! Improv piecing is fun free-form play with colors and shapes. You will learn the useful basics of improv piecing, with squares, rectangles, triangles, curves, and random shapes.
Improv piecing is like working a puzzle with an unexpected outcome! It's really fun to let go and get in the flow, and see where your sewing leads you. You can use random scraps or choose a color pallet. The patchwork you create can then be incorporated into a variety of different sewing projects, like a quilt or mini quilt, pillow, zipper pouch, tote bag, or added to garments.
This workshop is $55, materials not included, but are available for purchase.
Use scraps, fat quarters or yardage. You will want the equivalent of about a yard of scraps. If using Fat Quarters, grab 4 or 5. You can choose a specific color palette, or pull random colors and prints- anything goes!
Tools: Sewing Machine, basic sewing supplies, scissors and/or rotary cutter, acrylic ruler cutting mat, small iron and pressing mat, if you have them. Starch is also good to have when sewing patchwork. Mary has all these necessary tools to share.
