Improv Patchwork Floor Pillow Camp! June 27 & 28, 10am-3pm
A huge floor pillow? How fun! And there's lots of room for creativity with this project, the kids will choose their own fabrics and create a one-of-a-kind improv patchwork, which will then be made into the top of the huge fluffy pillow!
Improv patchwork piecing is free-form fun, playing with colors and shapes. Kids will learn the useful basics of quilt piecing, which is a lot like working a puzzle that you make up as you go along. It's really fun!
Students will choose a color pallet, and learn to plan, measure & cut fabric, pin, and use a sewing machine to sew it all together, make a mini quilt from the patchwork, sew the pillow, and the best part- stuff it up with lots of fluff! The pillow will be approximately 25"- 30" square, perfect for movie nights, game rooms, book nooks, sleepovers, and probably a pet bed!
This camp will provide ample opportunity for building skills, and includes the use of math, geometry, engineering, design, and spacial understanding. There's a whole lotta S.T.E.A.M. going on here!
Cost is $195, which includes all materials. Ages 9 & up. If your child is younger than 9, but has sewn with Mary before, please email her for permission to enroll. (You know who you are!)
