The perfect quilt class for this election year, featuring Elizabeth K Ray's timely and inspired VOTE/LOVE QUILT!

We met Elizabeth years ago when we visited the NW Arkansas Quilt Guild, and have been fans ever since! She is a dynamic fiber artist whose math skills and quilting prowess shines through in her geometric-inspired designs. Elizabeth's quilts have been recognized at events such as the International Quilt Festival, QuiltCon, Road2CA, AQS, and Mancuso shows. Additionally, her work has been exhibited at the National Quilt Museum and U.S. Art in Embassies. And her VOTE quilt is now a proud part of the International Quilt Museum's permanent collection in Lincoln, Nebraska. How 'bout that?! We are super proud to call her a friend, and you should follow her immediatly on Instagram @elizabethkray.

In four Tuesday evenings, 6-9pm, we will make the quilt top, which measures 54" x 56". The color palettes in the photos are available to purchase in red, white & blue for VOTE, or red, white, and pink for LOVE. They will be ready and waiting for you at Mary's studio the first night of class. Alternately, you can choose to purchase only the class and pattern, and bring your own fabric. Have a look at the photo of the back of the pattern for the fabric requirements. (Best to stick to the same color scheme, unless you are an experienced quilter or super smarty pants who can translate the directions to colors different than those shown.)

Price is $205 for the class and the pattern (without fabric), -OR-  $245 for the class, pattern, and fabric for the quilt top (Contact Bianca for pro assistance with choosing backing and binding fabric!) owlanddrum@gmail.com) This class is available on Zoom, and we can ship your fabric! Simply choose a Zoom option in the drop down menu.

You will need:

  • fabric
  • white or light gray cotton thread
  • pattern (included!)
  • sewing machine
  • rotary cutter, acrylic ruler & cutting mat
  • starch
  • 1/4" presser foot (recommended)
  • thread snips
  • iron (mary has irons and boards. You can bring your own to set up by your machine, if you like)
  • Mary has tools to share! If you need assistance with sourcing tools, or any other questions, please contact her, she'll be happy to help!

*For advanced beginners. (The pattern says Intermediate, but with Mary's guidance in class, it will be pretty easy.) It's important for you to have experience equivalent to our Beginner Quilting class to comfortably participate. Your skills should include familiarity with working with the grainline of fabric, accurately cutting, piecing with a 1/4" seam allowance, and pressing. This pattern will help you sharpen your cutting skills, and introduce you to strip piecing and cutting and sewing angles.

*For those who know how to use a machine, but do not yet have quilting experience, contact Mary to see about a private lesson so she can familiarize you with how to use a rotary cutter and ruler, working with the grainline of fabric, accurately cutting, piecing with a 1/4" seam allowance, and pressing, to get you up to speed.

Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for supporting our small businesses! We simply could not do it without you.
